In order to test the kinetics of gas phase reactions on catalysts, an fully automatic experimental system was designed. The system can be operated in the range of 0100 bars and 25-700 C. The flow, temperature and pressure of the system are controlled by the control signals from a DAC board of a CUBE computer. The output of the pressure, flow and temperature sensors were read through an ADC board of the computer.
The calibration and testing studies of the flow, pressure and temperature systems were carried out by the set point signals from the computer.
After the calibration studies, a commercial steam-methane reforming catalyst was crushed into small particles (0.250.35 mm). The microreactor was packed with this crushed catalyst samples. The conditioning of the catalyst was carried out with hydrogen flowing through the system at 650 C and 5 bar system pressures. Finally, a limited catalyst evaluation study was carried out at a temperatures of 550 to 650 C and pressures of 1 to 5 bars of steammethane reforming, analysing the gas products at the outlet of the experimental system.
